SCC Week 4 card nr. 2

Hiya Everybody!

This is just a quick post - I made another Summer Card Camp card.....as you have seen this weeks color combo is....

and I have made another card with this combo, using Jennifer McGuire's technique called the faux letterpress where you put ink on the female side of the embossing folder......cough....lets say it the indented side of the embossing folder.....run it through your cuttlebug or what ever machine you have and you get a very interesting result! I had this butterfly embossing folder for a while - never used it - well it came in handy today! 

Here is what I made....

I love how those butterflies stand out and work so well with the MS punch butterflies!

WOYWW. 20th July 2011

Good morning to all of you my lovely friends!

I have been a bit quiet this week - simply because life has taken over and I have been so so busy! And believe me this is not busy like housework busy or work busy - this is crafty busy! So what have I been up to??? I am doing a few things at the same time and I think I have taken a bit too much on myself - maybe more then I can handle but they say we should go to the limits and use every brain cell possible! So at the moment I am doing 3 classes!!!!!!

I am doing 2 Suzi Blu classes because I want to learn how to draw a face and a simple body because my skills of drawing have somehow stayed on the level of a 3 year old child, and I thought I really must improve that at 54!!!!! (oh God am I  really that old?????) It is such an interesting experience - I am learning so much - not just drawing - I am learning all about paints, mediums - stuff I had no idea about! Really amazing! I must admit that since I signed up I haven't stopped going to the art shop, as I didn't have anything needed to do the class. On the other hand I have also been doing the "Summer Card Camp" as my first love are still cards...

I made one today for "Less is More" which I will show you in a minute....

Lets start with my desk! I hope the photos will be better then last week - I have now studied my new camera a bit and I think I am making better photos....here is an overall view....

I realize now that I have complicated a bit too much with this card....I stamped 5 different stamps with different ink every time - then punched out circles ('cause thats what LIM wants this week - CIRCLES) and then I thought it was all a bit dull I went over each circle with glazing medium makes it pop out a little bit - and yay I am using my new medium ( you can see it on my desk!)...I could have just punched out circles from different DP but huh I didn't think of it! How daft am I????? Anyway here is the result....I think this card with the color combo might even be good for the Summer Card Camp! 

Not finished yet....I made another box of flowers - this one is traveling to the States to Amy.....

I used glazing medium again just to make the top bit pop....I also added something for a bit of texture - ha, ha all stuff I have been learning from Suzi Blu.....

And as last I am showing my Annie....it is the first drawing I made....it isn't perfect but I am open to critique so please tell me what you think .....

Ok NOW I am finished! I will be coming round to all of you - well as much as I can - some I missed last week.....but I am telling you now I won't be here next week....I am off to the seaside with my friend - there is no internet where I am going so no WOYWW! Still before I go I will post again and I will be doing stuff at the seaside so when I come back you will have lots to see!!!

Summer Card Camp Week 3

Hi Everybody!

How are you all doing? I just came back from my mom's - went to visit her! She lives 200 km away and I go see her twice a month. Anyway I wanted to reported that we had a bit of cooling - we are now at  "just" 28 deg C during the day and the nights are around 20 degC or less which is nice so I am finally having some sleep! And because I did have some sleep I managed to catch up with Summer Card Camp week 3! Their color combo for

and here is my take on.....

The background was stamped with the Hero Arts Large Fabric Design stamp with Versamark for a tone on tone effect, the stamp on cream paper is from Crafty Individuals CI - 137, the text is from an old book which I made even older with putting some Distress stain on the edges, the flowers are made of TH Kraft Glassine but I must admit I was a bit disappointed as it didn't turn out to be what I thought it would be - it seems so flimsy!!! Maybe I am doing something wrong does anybody have some suggestion???? Two butterflies and some string and TH Dream ticket! I colored a bit of the stamp with a red Copic marker, also put spots of red with a coloring pencil around the text just to pull it all together! I was going to make another card with the other combos of this week but I am just so tired from all that driving I think I better go to sleep and come back tomorrow with a few other things I have been working on!

Last minute WOYWW!

Hello everybody!

Sorry I am soooo late, but I must tell you my brain is not working - it is HOT, HOT, HOT here and I just don't feel like sitting at the computer - the little room feels like an oven and well I am ringing wet all day!

Anyway to show you how hot it is I took a picture of the thermometer I have outside on the terrace - this is at 8 o'clock in the morning! 28 deg C!!!!

And this is at 6 o'clock in the evening! 34 deg C!!! 

Imagine what it is during the day! Huh! And I have to go to work too! Sooo that is the reason my desk looks like this.....

yes as you can see all empty! (I have a new camera but I don't even feel like researching its potential - that is why this picture isn't very good!) Well I can show you a bit on both sides where there are a few new things...on the left...distress stains, Faber Castell metallic Gelatos - a big bucket of black gesso

and on the right....a pile of very small canvases and some gems and alpha beads....hehe and a little box of jelly beans....mhmm....there are still some in there.....

and last I have made a card over the weekend for my goddaughter when I could still function.....I have used this stamp before and I really love it for "seaside" cards..... wish I was at the seaside now......oh well.......

Wrapping this up as I can't explain to you how hot it is in here.....sorry for the short and late post but they say it will cool down in the next days so I will try to be more active then!

WOYWW, 6th July 2011 and Inspiration!

Good morning dear friends!

How are you all today??? The sun has just come out in Ljubljana, although we did have a foggy morning! 

First up - thank you for everybodies comments last week - to some I got back to some I didn't - sorry I will do better this week! I finally sorted out everything to do with the bathroom - well they haven't started the work yet but I have decided what I want and who I want to do it! So now we are waiting for the tiles to arrive - they are coming from Spain - I decided to go a bit fancy with the tiles - designer is Agatha Ruiz de la Prada - very colorful tiles - I know white is the in thing but I need color and even if something is IN I don't care! 

Enough about that - you will hear more about my bathroom once we actually start the work....

More to the point lets have a look at my desk....not too busy, although I have been making cards, I try to keep the desk tidy....I have now so much stuff piled up on the desk if I just put a few things on the central bit I have no work space at all.....so bare that in mind when you think I am tidy - I am not!

I was making a card for the Less is More challenge and the challenge is shades of blue, thats why all those blue pencils are out!....if I look down from my terrace I can see a garden with lovely bushes of blue hydrangeas - I think hydrangea is one of the flowers that can show all the shades of blue you can imagine....so here is my inspiration....

And here is the card ( sorry not a very good picture today - very bad light - inside and outside!) on which I have used lots of shades of blue - I stamped with Memento Paris Blue and then used my pencil colors to get in all the shades...

and a bit of detail.....

I have some photos from our faculty excursion which I will show you in my next post - amazing orchids to be seen !

I will wrap this up as I have been posting long posts lately and I know you are rushing around to see other desks so thank you for visiting mine and I will be around visiting yours!

Another card for SCC and a 4th of July tag!

Hiya Everybody!

Here is another card I made for Summer Card Camp! I used this color combo....

It is a simple card but it took me hours to make it - I wasn't happy with the leaves but in the end I think I got it right! So here is my card!

In detail......

And this is a little tag I made for the 4th of July! I was born in the States and lived there till I was 9 years old, when we moved to Slovenia! I am a "natural born" and I have a passport to prove it! So in some way I have the right to celebrate the 4th of July! Lots of criticism goes to America and Americans these days  but I think it is still a great country with so many achievements other countries will probably never catch up! So fellow Americans have a lovely 4th of July!
