WOYWW, 19 th October 2011, I have never missed so many WOYWW!

Hi my dear bloggy friends!

This is a late post but I decided I will post today no matter what! I have been away for two reasons: I have a very bad knee injury and can't sit at the computer, the second reason is that my wifi went wrong and although I have a laptop and could be posting from bed - I couldn't because I had no wifi! The unfortunate thing was also that my daughter and her boyfriend were on holiday and I had no one who could fix my wifi! Last week I started with physiotherapy and although I can at least walk now (with crutches of course) I am still in a lot of pain and it looks like I will have to go back to the doctor and have it looked at again!
I don't want this post to be all doom and gloom so I have a few things to show you! Although I can't do much I try to keep myself busy all the time....
For the first week I was laying in bed mostly and I thought I should do some drawing - I think I have finally started to get this face drawing....here are a couple examples......

I don't know why the pictures are so blue - it was done on white paper....

The ones above are more realistic whereas the ones bellow are more fantasy....

Next thing I wanted to show you is my first ever "mixed media" canvas ( no I have never done anything on canvas in my life) You have to try things don't you?? Suzi Blu brought out these witchy kits but you can only buy them in the States so I decided to make my own little witch - my big mistake was making it on a very small canvas - you learn as you go - it is much harder to draw something very small - especially if you are a
beginner like me but I did it and I am proud of myself ( I love the little broom I made of a kebab stick, rafia and bit of wire!)

I also made a birthday card.......
and last but not least big news!!!!!! Over the weekend my DBF came from England and my daughter and her boyfriend came for a visit so I organised them all to put up a shelve and a rail in my little room and here are the results - with a lot of struggle I tidied up this morning....I HAVE LOADS OF SPACE TO WORK ON MY DESK!!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

All my paints, watercolors, pencils, pastels, mediums, stamps (except the wooden ones) are all there - also I selection of Martha Stewart punches... have a closer look...

and finally my desk .....it is empty at the moment - but I finally have room to craft.....lots of room....

So there that is the crafty bit......here is a photo of my four legs....

and as you all know this year colorful tapes are the in thing.....I had tapes on my knee over the weekend, I chose red .....I am always into fashion ha, ha.....

I am finished now - I know it is a long post but I haven't been on here for 3 weeks so give me a break!!!
Lots and lots of hugs to you all my dear friends!

WOYWW and how dangerous crafting can be!

Good morning lovely blogers!

How are you on this lovely Wednesday morning?? Aren't we lucky with this lovely autumn weather??? Indian summer they call it! Very nice!
So let me tell you a little story how I almost burned down the kitchen.....It was a usuall morning I was rushing around doing 10 things at a time and so amoung other things I thought I would have a fried egg...I put the oil in the pan turned the gas on and went into my craft room just to put a punch away.....then I saw my art journal and started thinking about what I should put on it and one thing led to another when suddenly there was this really weird smell.....Oh dear I have something going on in the kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep the oil was on fire and smoke was everywhere! I ran out on the terrace with the pan so the fire was put out ( you are not suppose to put water on it as you make it worse!), after 2 days I am still airing out the smell and the pan went into the bin! So the lesson here is DON'T GO INTO YOUR CRAFTROOM WHEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON IN THE KITCHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Huh!!!
Onto crafting this month is engagements, weddings, birthdays so I keep on doing that and can't really get up to my journaling - well I did a few pages and I thought I took pictures of them but when I downloaded stuff from my camera this morning the photos weren't there so you will see them in my next post.....still at least I do have my cards all documented so here is my stuff.....
One of my daughters friends got married and I made two cards so she could choose - it was an autumn wedding so on one I used punched leaves - the papers are all TH kraft Coordination's....love that paper...

This one is similar but I used the the free stamp from the Craft Stamper and the masking technique...I liked both but because the colors were brighter on the punched one my daughter chose that one!
Next up is a card that is a bit unusual but still I think quite interesting.....my friend has a friend who's daughter has just been engaged to a Mexican.....sooo how do you express Slovenia - Mexico on a card.....huh a bit of a job but I cracked it  - you can be the judge of it....Anyway as you can see we have the Mexican and Slovene flag - two birds kissing with a ring in the middle and lots of gold flakes (another one of my new GOLDEN products - love that stuff)  which for some reason reminds me of  Mexico - must be something to do with the Indian Inka Gold.....the sentiment is bilingual of course too - Slovene and Spanish ( no I don't speak Spanish but my daughter does! Huh!)
And of course my desk of this morning is coming up......very messy as always....

I am making a birthday card for an old lady....I know I should have used more autumn colors but when you are 88 you probably want something to brighten your day.....

And here is an overall look.....

Ok I think I am done now.....I wish you all a pleasant snoop around the worlds crafting desk, enjoy the lovely days we have and keep crafting!
Lots of hugs to all of you

WOYWW, a card for a newborn and......

Good morning my dear friends!

I haven't managed to do the rounds last week which I must apologise for .....it was a busy week and I just didn't have any free time! I had a few rush jobs for cards, I went to a course about acrylic paints, I had to get the plumber back because my radiator in the bathroom was leaking so lots went on but now I hope I will finally have a peaceful rest of the week so time to snoop around the worlds desks gathered at Queen Julia!
Let me just show you last week in photos.....
First I finished last weeks card and it turned out like this.....
I went to this really great seminar on Acrylic paints. I never went to any art school or anything so I don't know much about acrylics, oil paints, watercolor anything.....one of our art shops organized this seminar and I thought I better go and learn - I think it was one of the most useful courses I have went to in years! It was for the use of Golden acrylics which are very expensive but for special effects I guess it is worth splashing out the money! The mediums, gels,  pastes and additives that are available today makes you think artists can do anything these days - whatever pops into their head they can do it with all the stuff available! Here are a few photos I took at the seminar....

Our teacher in the apron.....

and some presentation material.....

A new technique I will use in my art journal.....

Here is my "collection of GOLDEN acryilics stuff.....

and here is my desk of this morning......I made a card for our dean's daughter - she just had a baby boy....

Here is the card in normal light - not a glaring table light.............

So there that  is me done....I hope you enjoyed my weekly tour....I really don't know what is going on but these Wednesdays really seem to come around so quick! They should get a speeding ticket!
Lots of hugs to all of you and I will be seeing you on my rounds....

WOYWW, 14th September 2011

Good morning my dear friends!

How are you all doing?? I hope everybody is well and happy! I seem to be back on track with my crafting although I must admit I did more ironing this week then crafting...I am now finished with all that domestic nonsense and I can now enjoy dabbing, coloring and generally crafting away! We are still enjoying summer weather but the forecast is that next week we will fall flat on our face right into winter -  even a few snowflakes are possible - I will let you know about that! Anyway back to my desk - it is messy as always -I was making a card for my aunt (she is 83) using Copics - I had to get them out as I haven't used them in a while and I wonder if they haven' t all went dry - they didn't so I managed to do a bit of coloring! The stamp is from Crafty Individuals - I love their vintage stamps ! I cut into some DP (huh heartbreaking) and I found a matching ribbon!
So here is my desk of this morning.....

A close up of what is going to be a card! A few Pitt pens and Copics.....

And an overal look of my messy desk - I am really doing something about that - I think I will do some changes this weekend! I have no space !!!!

This is short and sweet today I will be back to show my finished card later....
Have a lovely day, have a lovely snoop, enjoy life!
Lots of hugs to all of you,

YIPEEEEEE!!! YIPEEEEEE!!!! YIPEEEEEEE!!!! I got a mosh book!!!!!

Good morning to all you Craftyfolk!

How is your day??? Sunny and bright and warm as mine or cold and miserable??? Well I hope that whatever the weather outside you feel well and happy inside! I do because yesterday when I came home from work a brown package was in my mailbox! And this is what was inside:

YIPEEEEE!!!!!!!! Donna sent this lovely mosh book ( nr. 2 Sketch on the go) to me and I don't even know why I deserved it but it made me sooooo happy - honestly when she was making this one in the video I secretly really wished I could have it and as you can see sometimes wishes do come true! THANK YOU SO MUCH DONNA I am really happy!!!! Love it, love it, love it!

But that wasn't all that was waiting for me yesterday - a little note from the postman was left there asking me to pick up something from the post office - obviosly he couldn't put all the stuff in the mailbox....so what was it ???  Well a few days ago I ordered some watersoluble oil pastels from Caran' dache from a shop called Artifolk and it came in like 3 days - amazing! I have a question though for all you arty people out there.....are these pastels permanent after they dry?? There is no video about them on the internet except an advert but that isn't very helpful! I need some info so if anybody has used them let me know all about them!

Not finished yet.....I managed to make a card - it is for a longtime penpals birthday and I tried to cram in a lot of symbolism in the card - I think he will get it! I did a lot of stamping, collage, I used Distress Stains for the first time on a card - they are great for making backgrounds! Anyway here is my card!

And just to remind you that autumn is coming although the temperatures in our country are not saying that yet a shoebox my friend Anna gave me full of the gifts of nature....lovely red and white grapes and very tasty pears - all grown in a clean environment with nothing sprayed on them!

Have a lovely day, see you all tomorrow, gathered at the crafty round table of our Queen Julia!
Hugs to all of you,
Cardarian

WOYWW, the new bathroom and journal pages

Hi Everybody!

I am back now for good - I had 2 weeks of bathroom renovating and one week of holidays with friends at the seaside - that didn't go very well as we all caught a bug and were very ill almost all week! Still I am better now, my friends have flown back to England and yes I have a bathroom!!! YIPEEEEEEE!!!!!
I was suppose to show pictures before I left for the holiday but I was under such stress those days what with the bathroom just being done - the whole flat needed to be cleaned from top to bottom as there was dust everywhere - my building is made of concrete so you can imagine I had a building site right there in my flat! Luckily my friend Vesna helped me with the cleaning so that it was all clean and ready when my guests arrived! I didn't have time for blogging as there was so much going on but now I am back to normal so my dear friends and followers you will hear from me more often!
On the crafty side I haven't done much - I did start a new journal - just prepared a few pages and this week I intend to make a few cards, get back in the crafty mode!
Let me start with my bathroom......shower...

toilet....

radiator....

and basin.....there will be a proper miror and some cupboards soon but at the moment it is as it is......

So there - that is the bathroom.....here are some journal pages I have been preparing....

close up - I played with a bit of gold....

for this page I bought some weird paper in Italy it has great texture....I am not sure what I will do with it yet but this is a start....

And at last here is my desk - pretty boring .....bought a new distress ink faded jeans - I didn't have that one yet - I should probably be buying the new stains but they seem to disapear from our shops as soon as they appear! My craft room is a big mess at the moment I am thinking of some changes but I don't know what to do - honestly I have so much stuff I must make a change! Will report on that in the near future!

Have a lovely day, enjoy the snoop - I will be around your desk too!
Hugs to all of you,
Cardarian

WOYWW, 2 cards and the last day of my bathroom redoing!

Hi Everybody!

I am sorry I haven't been around - it has been a bit of a busy week for me - the bathroom is just about to be finished but I won't be able to take a photo till the afternoon so I will add it on later in the day! As you all know I haven't been living at home because at my age not having a toilet is a bit of a problem! I am sure some of you ladies out there will understand! Strangely although I have been  homeless my mind is buzzing with ideas and as soon as I get my home back I will be creating like mad! I have done a few bits on Saturday - not anything very cheerful! Years ago as a student I used to live with a lady and her father in a lovely flat in the old bit of Ljubljana city! The land ladies sister was a known Slovene painter and she was the first one that taught me about art! She died last week (at age 93!!!) and I made simpathy cards for her sister and son! Here are the cards....

Nooooo the desk is not my usual desk ( I wish I had a window in the back) it is my desk at work at the old library where I work a few days a week! I also made a very nice birthday card for my daughters boyfriend Jan but I forgot to take a picture - she will take it for me so I will show that later! The little time I had free I did create but most of the time I have been out and about looking for varios things for the bathroom! I still can't decide on the lights! I have walked through all the "light shops" you can imagine but nothing has caught my eye! I might just have bulbs hanging on a wire till I find something I really like! Decisions, decisions, decisions! Huh!
Anyway this will be short and sweet - I will be back late in the evening with photos of my finished bathroom but for now I am giving you a little sneak peek.......ha, ha bubbly and very colorful!

Have a lovely day, enjoy the snooping after my first bit of cleaning I will try to come round you folks but I am not promising too much as I have to clean a very, very, very dusty flat as tomorrow I have guests coming to visit from England!
Lots of hugs to all of you,
Cardarian

Lost a Wednesday - My bathroom monthly mojo!

Hi my dear friends!

It is horrible that I have to keep on apologising for not coming round to you but I had a mad week and I will explain all my problems!
Last week the man who was supposed to do my bathroom in September called and said that they could come this week! How often does it happen that the people who are doing bathrooms or any kind of work on your house say they want to come earlier then expected???? So I grabed the chance and I have been homeless all week! Twice a day - early in the morning and late in the afternoon I go to my flat and have a look what they have done and also tidy up the mess they make and water my plants! I have been staying in our visiting professors flat - luckily there were no professors visiting this week! :-)
The worse banging is over but the bathroom still won't be finished till next Wednesday! So I will be staying at my friends till Wednesday I guess!
Before I show you my bathroom I have something for Sashas MY MONTHLY MOJO! The theme this month is Muse & Use it! As all of you know I rarely make a wall hanging or anything similar.... I could call my self a "practical" crafter because although I think wall hangings and similar things are really lovely pieces of art I just don't see my flat full of them! So I try to make sure that everything I make goes to someone - that is why I like to make cards - even if the card is for a challenge I make sure it soon goes to someone who will be happy to get it! Lately I have ventured into art journaling - I made an art joural - memory book for my daughter and I will start one for myself soon!
Here is a card I have made recently for one of the students that used to work in our library - I really like to make birthday cards - as the color goes with a "yellow" challenge at "Craftalnica" I will also enter my work there! ( he, he another "use" of my card)
For this card I used a Suzi Blu stamp "party girl" and an Inkadinkado sunflower stamp! Bits of Tim Holtz stuff, Hero Arts alphas and a few black pearls! The backround of the card was made with distress inks so all in all a lot of stamping and inking!
Here I have another "use" of my art! I was thinking of what to make to notify the people in my block of flats that I will be doing my bathroom and they will have to put up with a lot of noise! So I made a "painting" to tell them what I will be doing....here it is!

I bought some of that new Paperartsy Fresco Finish paint at the Artful Splodger ( a good online shop with excellant service - I get my stuff in 4 days which is almost unheard of! I really recommend them!) and made a "cracle" backround - the base was pink, then I put over the cracle stuff and the blue one on top - it is fantastic to watch it cracle - almost magic! Beforhand I  gathered all the bits and bobs for the collage! I cut apart some cardboard and used the white acrylic dabber on it - to represent a worn out wall I stamped a few tools and colored them, buckets of paint and the word "bang" for lots and lots of banging! I wrote the actual note on the computer with a old typewriter font and then distressed it with vintage photo! I also stamped a lady in the bath and a shower on top to get the peoples attention to the point of this note! The edges are also distressed! The note was a success - everybody now knows I am doing up my bathroom!
Here are a few details of this "mojo" of mine
day one - morning - last shot of my 36 year old bathroom.....

day 1 - evening ....stripped down.....

Day 2 - lots of pipes and wires....

Day 3 - doomsday......the wall..... initially I wanted a shower with three walls and a door in the front - thinking it would be easy and practical to clean - well it turned out to be a big lump of cement  making the already small bathroom even smaller so - they had to tare it down and we found a new solution which will be shown to you in the next days!

Ohhh well! I hope you enjoyed " My Mojo Monthly" probably a bit different from others - I hope I can show something different next month! And I hope I will have a bathroom by then! :-)
My apologese again for being away but I will get back to normal after all this is done!
Lots of hugs to all of you,
Cardarian
